Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Appellate Attorney with an exclusive focus on family law to handle complex appellate matters arising from trial-level family court proceedings. This role is dedicated to family law appeals and requires strong appellate writing, advanced legal analysis, and a working understanding of family law statutes and trial court discretion.
The position involves appeals related to parenting plans, child custody, relocation, spousal support, property division, and post-judgment family law orders.
Responsibilities
- Handle family law appellate matters exclusively
- Review trial court records to identify appealable issues and standards of review
- Draft appellate briefs, motions, and memoranda
- Conduct legal research on family law statutes, appellate decisions, and procedural rules
- Develop an appellate strategy and issue framing
- Prepare oral argument materials and present arguments when required
- Advise on post-judgment remedies and appellate risk
- Ensure compliance with appellate rules, formatting requirements, and filing deadlines
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active law license in good standing
- Prior experience handling appellate matters in family law
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Ability to analyze complex trial records
- Excellent attention to detail and time management
